Tasks that Can Be Done Simultaneously

Dusting, Cooking and Defrosting. Unless the food being cooked needs to be watched constantly, you can dust the furniture while cooking rice and the refrigerator has been switched off for defrosting.

Washing, Cooking and Cleaning. If you’re using a washing machine, you can cool lunch or sweep eh floor while draining or filling up the washer. Work simplification techniques save time, energy and money. Some of these techniques are:
  • Use baking soda to deodorize and disinfect bathrooms and kitchen sinks, remove yellow stains and color from dirty clothes and facilitate the cleaning of greasy pots and pans. Baking soda even relieves acid indigestion. It is also environment-friendly.
  • Organize the cleaning implements so that you can bring the room, dust cloth, coconut husk, mop and wax all at the same time while moving around the house.
  • Arrange washed clothes, especially the shirts, on hangers to avoid too much creases upon drying. Fold dry clothes carefully, with the creases smothered firmly with the hand. If this is well done, the shirts need not be ironed.
  • Put the meat/fish in the refrigerator to thaw before leaving for work in the morning. This way, one will be able to cook at once upon arriving in the afternoon. Meat and fish should not be left on the kitchen sink to thaw because bacteria may set in. They will also lose their juices.
  • Prepare the meals in advance. Some housewives cook all the viands for the week during the weekend. These are then packed in separate containers, labeled, frozen and heated as needed.
  • Wax the floors once every two weeks. Floors polished regularly are easier to maintain.
