Majority of the cases of rebellious teenagers studies show that the subjects have communication problems with their family members, particularly their parents. How can teens improve their relationships with their parents by communicating well? Consider the following tips:
- Minimize watching TV and playing video/computer games. Oftentimes, these are distractions to a quality family time. Instead, do something that interests you and your mom or dad. A simple walk to the park with your pet dog will do. Talk about things that concern the whole family.
- Eat your meals, especially dinner, together. Some kids eat in front of the TV or inside their rooms. Dinnertime is a great time to talk about your day and other concerns relating to the family.
- Open up your problems to your parents and be honest. They are the ones who can really help you out!
- Show affection. Express your love to your parents, brothers and sisters.
- Pray and study the Bible together. Let God be the center of your family. Let Him guide your way.
