Taking Criticisms

For some, they get hurt when they're criticized. Even when they deserved it, still they feel that the criticism should have been done in a nicer way.

Yet, we must learn to take criticisms. Even if it is unjust, it must be taken with patience and charity. Striking back is not the best reaction one can do for a criticism.

For all you know, it might be for your own good. Especially if criticism comes from parents, friends or people who mean well. So take criticisms as you take advice.

When offered advice or criticism, ask yourself these questions: Why am I being subjected to this? What is the purpose of the people offering me the advice or criticism? If the answers to these questions are satisfactory, then you should listen and heed.

Don't be offended when you are told to do this or that. True, you have your own opinions, but you could profit from other people's experiences, mistakes and wisdom.

Your parents' counsel is certainly your welfare. They love you so much and they want so much to be proud of you. Hence, they will tell you what's wrong with you and how you can change for the better.

Your misconduct, defeat, worries and problems are sources of sadness for them, so they help you overcome these things. Be appreciative of their feelings and efforts, heed their advice, take their criticisms in a nice way, and you will soon be giving your loved ones plenty of reason to be proud of you.
