The map is the ideal analogy for goals. Let’s say you were to travel from Manila to Tuguegarao City. You have not traveled to that area before. As you start in the direction and begin driving, it won’t be long before you come to a fork in the road. (Just like life right? You start going in this direction and opportunities arise and you have to decide.) So, you either take the left road or the right road.
Well, without a map, you will end up guessing which way to go, you can confidently say, “This is the route I should take.” Without a map, you may get lucky and choose the right road but pretty soon, you’ll come into another intersection and you will have to take another “lucky” decision. How many lucky streaks do you think you have?
The bottom line is this: you should never journey across the countryside without a map. If that’s the case, why in the world would you journey through life without goals?
