2009. It is new year once again. And it is but fitting that we look back at the old year and look forward to the year just beginning.What happened in 2008? Let us count the blessings before the heartaches, the frustrations, the calamities and fears. Let us remember the mistakes only so that we can think of ways to improve ourselves this year.
And what we can do to improve ourselves? How can we show that we are better persons than we were last year? How can we show greater love for others? How can we perform more diligently our obligations both at home and in school?
Let us make good starts this year for they will greatly influence our behavior for the whole year. They say happiness is a habit - a result of right thinking and right living. Here are a few more pointers.
Live simply. Be contented with simple things - they are the best. Remember the song, "The Best Things in Life are Free?"
Be grateful. Start the day thanking God for the graces, for the privilege of life and work, for family and friends.
Cultivate an attitude of peace and goodwill, and be the master of your moods and temper, train yourself to think clearly, accurately and constructively. Fill your mind with useful ideas and thoughts.
Be generous. It is a great joy to give happiness to others by means of intelligent giving. Be interested in other people. Help, give and serve.
Spend less than you earn. This leads to contentment and peace of mind. Thrift and self-control in the long run will bring happiness.
Enjoy your leisure hours. Have a hobby: music, sports, books, BLOGGING=) (This is my new found hobby)
Think positive. Be optimistic, cheerful and hopeful. Make the most of today.
Be broadminded. Resist the tendency to want your way all the time. Remember, there are three sides to the questions - your side, the other person's side and the right side.
