Good Manners on the Internet

The internet is probably the most important invention in recent years. Because of the internet, doing research for your assignment is a lot easier. The internet also allows you to communicate with friends and relatives who are far away.

If you're one of the many people who use the internet, you should know that you also have to practice good manners while you're online. Below are just a few things that you should always keep in mind while surfing the net.

• Always be polite. When talking to someone through the internet, talk as if that person is in front of you. Never use words that might hurt or offend that person.
• Do not use all CAPITAL letters in your e-mail. Typing in capital letters is just like shouting. The same goes when you post a message on a bulletin board as well as in a chat room.
• Don't pretend to be someone else. You may, however, use a different name.
• Do not forward e-mails to other people unless the person who sent you the mail has given you permission to do so.
