How to Handle Crushes

In a nutshell, a crush is a feeling aroused by deep admiration for a person whom you find attractive and nice to be with. Some authors of psychology equate it to infatuation. That is, when one sees nothing but good to a person.

One question which could pop into your mind is how do you know you have a crush. There are many signs - when you feel the strong urge to see or look at the person and possibly be near him/her; when you think about this person, it makes you feel good and thoughts of him always occupy your mind; when you spend sleepless nights thinking about the person, when you feel insecure or jealous with persons who are close to him/her. These are just some of the many signs that you have a crush.

The next is to know how to manage your feelings and live as normally as you go on with your daily activities.

One advise is: you have to be aware you have a crush. Problems arise when you deny the feeling. To deny is to suppress your feelings which adversely affects your personality.

You have to be aware also that a person feels uneasy when he/she hides something. This means that you have to act normally. Be yourself! To be aware and receptive of your feelings make you at ease and comfortable.

When your crush notices you, fine. But if he/she does not, there is no reason to get depressed. Befriend your crush, there's nothing wrong with it. However, observe caution when you re-establish ties. Avoid going into extremes. Be sensitive.

It is advisable to keep yourself busy. Keep yourself preoccupied with things to accomplish which will divert your energies and will make you productive. It is helpful to know that having a crush is as normal as having pimples.

Lastly, one important thing to remember is to keep your line of communication open to God. He is a good partner in taming your eager heart.

You know ironically in a roundabout way I completely ignored all this advice and then she started to get interested in me. We were taking a compulsory r.e class when the teacher told all the athiests to go to one side of the class, she started to say that that was unfair and I chipped in, We sat together and had a long talk about how there probably isn't a god and how we should live our lives to the fullest just in case, speaking of which, do you want to go for a walk with me on sunday, when church will be on, she laughed and accepted. Thank you.
