How Good Looking Are You

A good personality, a good sense of humor and an ability to care about others are a lot more important than being the smartest person or the most beautiful.

Before you look in the mirror, make up your mind that you're not going to take what you see too seriously. That mirror is limited. It can't show all you are, or can be. It can only give you an idea of what you have to work with.

Remember, handsome or not, beautiful or not, you can be good looking.

Good grooming is the first step. Plenty of water and soap are a must. Go after your cleaning job with dedication. And because everyone perspires every hour of the day, soap and water may not be enough. A deodorant may be necessary.

Hair demands special grooming. After cleaning, how are you going to arrange it? Hair back, off your face, gives you a smarter, clean-cut appearance. How I also wish girls with long hair would tie their hair down especially in jeepneys so that it doesn't fly to people's faces.

Another law of good grooming is "Dress right." It doesn't mean having lots of expensive clothes. It just means using your clothes wisely.

Dress for the occasion - sports clothes for outings, dress-up clothes for church and parties. So, the next time you leave the house, be sure your clothes are suitable, clean, becoming, well-fitted, well-pressed and color-matched. And don't forget, your shoes also are a big factor in your entire appearance. Aside from good grooming, you'll look good if you -
  • Eat balanced diet.
  • Get sufficient sleep. Rest and peace of mind are essential, too.
  • Get exercise in the fresh air.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take daily baths.
  • Then, mind your posture. The way you sit, the way you stand, the way you walk, will give the people clue about the real you. Good posture makes a guy look strong and masculine and a girl more graceful and feminine.
What can a smile do? It can increase your face value. Smiles are magic. They transform sadness into happiness. The person who wears a smile is showing something very beautiful. You know what raisin is? It's a grape that worries too much and never smiles.

Actually, smiling is easier than frowning. Scholars say it takes 36 muscles to smile and about 97 to frown. So frown and do much work or smile and shorten your working day. A smile is really a girl's most effective cosmetic and a man's best agent. It really increases your face value.

Of course, what can give you the best of looks is what is in your heart. If you have a clean, kind and good heart, it will show through your face and make it glow with beauty.

If you are good looking, thank God for it and pray that you won't be swell-headed about it. What's the use of being handsome or pretty if nobody likes you?

Suppose you have "a face that only a mother can love?" Cheer up. You are among the many. And most of them have been loved by many. The thing to do, whether you are a raving beauty, a scarecrow or "in-between" as many of us are, is to make the best of what you have.

Dress becomingly, make sure you are always clean and neat, be interested and cheerful, be friendly and likeable. And people will say, you're very charming!!!

Your Own Story

Has anybody told you
That every thought you think
Makes lines just like the little lines
You write with pen and ink?
And thoughts of anger, fear or hate
Will spoil the prettiest face
By making ugly little lines
Which nothing can erase
But thoughts of love and kindness
And joyousness and cheer
Make pretty little lines
All fine and firm and clear
And by and by your face becomes
An open storybook
Which everyone can see and read
Each time they chance to look
So if your face to tell
A story so sweet and fair
You must see that only good thoughts
Do any writing there
